Diesel vehicles are now becoming more & more popular. Gone are the days
of the old 'Dirty' diesel engine fitted in commercial vehicles. Diesel engines
fitted in today's car & light commercial vehicles are equipped with as many
electronic systems as a petrol driven vehicle. The very latest systems fitted
to these vehicles are called 'Common Rail' diesels. These systems require
extremely high pressures to operate correctly. To test these systems, speci-
alist equipment is required. We at Paul Gunstone Mechanical Services, have
invested in the two hi-tech test kits that are made by Delphi. With this
equipment, we are successfully able to Diagnose & Repair diesel common rail
systems built by: Bosch, Delphi & Siemens. We also have the correct
Diagnostic equipment to test the Engine Management systems on these
diesel systems, including making some adjustments to ECU control, and also
to coding new common rail injectors to the car or light commercial vehicle!
Labour costs for this type of service start from: £47.50 per hour plus vat.

                           Having The Correct Testing Equipment:

Having the correct test equipment for Diesel Engine Management systems is an           
essential part of our everyday business. As well as having Dealer level equipment
for many makes, We also have many aftermarket tools that allow us to test &        
repair diesel systems, whether it's conventional rotary pump diesel, unit injector
diesel or common rail diesel we can test the system. The Bosch KTS range of testers
are an essential range of tools for testing diesel systems. We currently have the    
following Bosch KTS testers: KTS300, KTS500 and KTS520. All of these testers are
kept fully up to date at all times. We also have the Lucas Laser hand held tester
with Diesel pods and leads for testing Earlier Lucas diesel systems. Testing of
Diesel Engine Management systems, starts from as little as £30.00 plus vat for
the first initial Diesel Fault Diagnosis, and then £47.50 plus vat per hour there after.

If we find a fault with a Diesel vehicle that requires a serviceable item  being repaired,
Then we send the component to a fellow Bosch Diesel Specialist for service and/or
repair. The company that we use and recommend is: The Injection Centre at Longwell

here for over 15 years and as well as having a fully equipped workshop for the older
rotary pumps, they also have the very latest test and repair equipment for the
Common Rail Diesel systems that are found on today's vehicles. With them being
able to test and service a set of Common Rail Injectors, it makes a diesel repair
much more cost effective! The Injection Centre keep a good stock of Diesel service
parts, and will always try to provide a speedy turn-around on injectors, pumps etc,
keeping the vehicles 'off the road' time to a minimum!
